We thank Dr. Zhou for the positive comments about our manuscript and agree that socioeconomic factors play an important role in the relationship between malocclusion and quality of life. As we aimed to recruit enough cases with severe and very severe malocclusion for comparison purposes, we opted to use a convenience sample of hospital volunteers. This sampling strategy allowed us to recruit a group that was homogenous in terms of socioeconomic background but not representative of the child population in the country. These points were all addressed at the end of the discussion in our manuscript.
