The effect of the vertical skeletal relationship was not evaluated in this study. For the effect of vertical skeletal pattern on treatment efficiency, no clear conclusion was seen in previous systematic reviews,1,2 and previous studies showed conflicting results.3–5 Additionally, most of the samples were assigned randomly in this study. In conclusion, it is unlikely that the facial patterns would influence the outcome of the research.
In adolescents with a narrow arch that needed expansion or in patients who used RPE, a wide (square) arch form was used. Most of the other cases were treated with an ovoid arch form (MBT) or a medium size arch form. A tapered arch form was used in an adult with a narrow arch. MBT prescription was used in all patients. Miniscrews were used in 70.1% of the patients (Table 4).
