Thank you for publishing this paper on the Class II Carriere Motion appliance. We have some questions for the authors regarding this interesting study that was placed on the American Board of Orthodontics ‘recommended reading list' for the year 2021. It was interesting to note the varied dentoalveolar effects the appliance produced.

The mandibular first molar vertical position was described as the vertical distance from the X-axis (SN-7 plane) to the mesiobuccal cusp of the mandibular first molar (right and left). The text states that the appliance had an extrusive effect on the mandibular first molar. However, this vertical distance increased post treatment. Kindly explain this because this distance should have decreased if the mandibular molar extruded.

Could you please describe the protocol for elastic use that was included in the study? It would be helpful to understand the instructions that were given to patients regarding elastic wear.

Can you comment on the anteroposterior position of the mandibular incisors and how they might have changed position in due to use of the Class II Carriere Motion appliance.
Thank you for clarifying the details of the study to increase understanding of this appliance.
