Thank you for giving us the chance to respond to Dr. Zhao and colleagues' comments about our article.

In our study, movement of the canine was evaluated by measuring the distance between the midpoints of the vertical lines drawn from the incisal edge to the cervical line over the marginal ridge of the lateral and canine teeth on the dental cast. The study planning measurements made in similar studies were used as a reference. Also, as you see in Figure 1 in the paper, the incisors were tied to each other and the lateral incisor didn't move separately. There may have been retraction due to the stretching of fibers, but we do not think that the measurements would be misleading as it is symmetrical movement.

Since this study was split-mouth, a more stable landmark may not be necessary. Certainly, different points can be chosen for measurement, depending on the study design.
